After purchasing the farm Zebra River in 1992, there were a few months of deliberation before deciding to leave our comfortable professions and plunge into the lodge construction with limited funds. For three years we beat a path, almost every weekend, between Windhoek and Zebra River while construction was in progress.
Our deadline was march 1995 and we greeted our first guests with only two of our nine rooms complete. From this small beginning we are pleased to say the business has gone from strength to strength and from our side, a big thanks to all those who have supported us during the past twelve years, some returning a few times, even in the same year.
The Zebra River is one of the major tributaries feeding the Tsauchab River which culminates in Sossusvlei, Approximately 20 kilometres of the Zebra River crosses the lodge property. The name 'Zebra River Lodge' was an easy choice!
The shady verandahs Our nine guest rooms are all spacious, with a verandah area which allows one to relax and enjoy the lodge setting from the shady coolness. Apart from a few cold days we experience each year lunch is usually enjoyed on the verandah, where a cool breeze is the rule rather than the exception and the landscape worth gazing at! During the warm winter days one can soak up some sun in our peaceful garden whilst relaxing and reading a good book.

Most of our returning guests spend a bit longer at the lodge than they did the first time around. We are pleased to say that the regulars usually spend one to two weeks enjoying not only the tranquility of the lodge but using us as a base to explore the general area. This includes the Naukluft Mountains, Sossusvlei and as far as Duwiseb Castle in the south, not to mention the wonderful landscape that the 13 000 hectares on the farm Zebra River has to offer.
We would like our guests to feel welcome . . . so make yourselves comfortable . Enjoy our small library and please make your wishes known!
